Memory project 2011:
The National Art Honor Society made the portraits, above, in connection with The Memory Project. The Memory Project sets up student artists with photographs of children from around the world in orphanages or similar care facilities. In such places, often these children do not have many possessions. These student artists take the picture of the child they have chosen and create a portrait for the child. These portraits are then shipped back to the children, to serve as a very special memento.
